If you post entries, what do we do with this entry?

(New pictures up) Not my intention to go this long without a post, but it has been a busy week. Java methods, a quiz, introduction to objects, final recitation assignments, managing all these kids, forgetting to call the Technion, and a lack of sleep come to mind. Sarah, one of the instructors, has been sick since last weekend; hopefully she’ll recover to full health this weekend. Dylan and Jake had the lectures. I wrote a lab. Yaron led a special lecture on recursion for some kids while others caught up in the lab. We also have our recitation assignments for the rest of the month, now. My group of three Israelis and three Palestinians is a bit above the class average in technical capability, and it includes a mostly-deaf Palestinian girl who learns very quickly. While others of my students are certainly more difficult to teach (I cannot tell you how many times I repeated “the method returns a Racecar, so what do you want to do with this Racecar?” (desired answer: “return it”) to one guy yesterday), with this girl I become frustrated: I watch myself becoming more and more pedantic, asking simpler questions because she can’t understand what I’m saying, but I know she deserves a much higher level of engagement than what the language/hearing barrier has made so far possible for me… one of many challenges for next week. This week was quite tiring, and next week surely will be as well, but that only makes the pumpkin ravioli at a restaurant last night and the omelet-with-many-cheese-plates breakfast at a cafe this morning more delicious, right? On the way to the cafe, the increased numbers of security guards at bus stops and closed streets was noticeable; perhaps the government has some intelligence about an upcoming attempt. Remember to drink plenty of water so you don’t get dehydrated! Oh wait, that’s me.
